Hearing a person who snores can be sometimes be amusing but not if the person snoring shares a room with you. If you live with someone who snores (your spouse or a family member) the sound might be very disturbing.

If you cannot get a good night sleep and always wake up several times in the middle of the night because of your partner’s snoring then you should be thinking of getting anti snoring devices as a solution to the problem.

Below is a list of anti-snoring devices and their functions:

Snore ball

The snore ball is placed at the back of the snorer. The pajamas are worn on top of the ball. This ball creates some discomfort for the snorer while asleep but at the same time prevents him from sleeping on his back especially when changing sleeping positions. Golf balls, tennis balls and base balls are used as snore balls.

Throat spray

The snore spray is formed from natural ingredients. It is a natural remedy to stop snoring, it contains essential oils that helps to lubricate the throat thus reducing vibrations when sprayed into the throat, hence effectively reduce snoring. However, the snore spray can lead to more snoring if its use is not controlled.

It is therefore necessary to consult a doctor before using the throat spray to avoid complications.

Nasal Dilators

Nasal dilators made of stainless steel coil or plastic, nasal dilators help keep the air passage open which reduces vibrations in the throat that lead to snoring. Nasal dilators are inserted into the nostrils.

Nasal Strips

They are made from plastics and functions the same way as dilators. Nasal strips keep the airways on the nose open and ensures the right amount of airflow during sleep. It is cheap to buy, safe and effective to use. It is a popular anti-snoring device. Nasal strips are used by athletes for better airflow and respiratory efficiency while playing.

Anti snoring pillow

One of the reasons people snore is because they fail to sleep in the proper position. This causes the air passage to stretch and tighten making it more difficult for air to come in and out. To solve this, there are anti snoring pillows that relax the airways and maintains the right sleeping position to prevent snoring.

Sleep Position Monitor

This device gives a beeping noise to alert the snorer when he sleeps on his back. This device may pose a new problem for those who sleep around a snorer. It is not aimed at replacing the snore but helps to make the snorer adopt sleeping positions that will not induce snore. Instead, it is there to create a brand new sleeping habit.

Its use can be discontinued as soon as the snorer adopts and is able to maintain the correct sleeping position i.e. sleeping on his sides.
