Kuyichi & Calik Denim collaborate on sustainable denim

Kuyichi and the Jean School of Amsterdam have designed a collection driven by sustainability. Salvage Challenge, which takes advantage of Calik Denim’s Botanical Sense, and includes the use of the Crailar Flax fibre — to which Calik owns the European rights. This natural fibre is as soft, absorbent, and durable as cotton and, perhaps, just as crucially, conserves about 97% of the water expended in other forms of production. The second year students and Kuyichi designed and produced the collection in just six weeks. Salvage Challenge was recently presented at the Kingpins Show in Amsterdam held 28–29 October, 2015 where it drew much praise and appreciation for its stylish approach to sustainable minimalism.
