A Detailed Analysis of Messi’s Failure to Win a Trophy With Argentina
O’Hanlon: Just kidding. Hard pass. There are 21 other people on a soccer field.
That´s good enough for a normal player, but it isn´t when the most humiliating thing you´re calling Messi is “the best footballer who ever lived”.
Now, the best footballer I remember, Maradona, won a World Cup with a crap Argentina side, way worse than the present one, and against probably the best Germany I´ve seen, definitely better than 2010 Spain (and I´m Spanish) and 2014 Germany. Maradona could take over a game, he´d decide he wasn´t losing that one, and score pretty much by himself starting in midfield. Messi can´t do that, never has, and never will.
You don´t have to like the guy, I don´t like him much myself, but, whereas Messi works really well as the icing on a good cake, Maradona WAS the cake.
