Nicolas, I am at the other end of the age spectrum and I will give you the bookend, what you say is very true and you also land on the behavioral issue that allows smart people to fail — not knowing the difference between want and need. I see the effects of non saving everyday in my investment practice and there is nothing sadder than seeing a couple in their 50’s or 60’s looking toward retirement and realizing they aren’t going to make it and are looking at years of additional work.

When you are young it’s easy and fun to be the grasshopper and not the ant but the ant wins in the end- every time.
