If you have lost a tooth or two, you might be wondering about getting them replaced. Whether it’s for cosmetic reasons, or to restore a natural bite, having teeth replaced doesn’t need to cost the earth or be a complicated process.

Although losing a tooth might not seem like a big deal at the time, it can have a serious impact on your oral health and overall confidence. Missing teeth can also make it difficult for people to eat nourishing foods that are tricky to chew, such as nuts and meat, reducing your quality of life.

While it’s modern dentistry’s goal for all patients to keep all their teeth for an entire lifetime, the reality is quite different. At Dentalia, we see many patients missing teeth and in search of a remedy. So, if you want to know what your options for tooth replacement are, we’ve compiled a list of our top three treatments:

1. Dental implants

Dental implants are the best permanent option for replacing lost teeth, thanks to the fact that they replace both the tooth root and the crown. Furthermore, they stimulate bone density and are anchored into the jaw, reducing bone loss and making them secure. They are fitted by attaching into the jaw with a titanium screw base and over several months the jawbone fuses with the titanium implant.

2. A crown and bridge

This is where one or more artificial teeth are anchored to the teeth on either side of it. Generally, a crown is put onto the two adjacent teeth and the missing teeth are slotted in between. Although this is a reasonable method for fixing new teeth, it can put stress on the teeth around it. If you have lots of missing teeth, a denture or partial denture may be a wiser option.

3. Dentures

Dentures are typically the lowest cost option for replacing multiple teeth. A full set of dentures replaces an entire arch of teeth, while partial dentures restore the appearance of your smile and some of its function.

While dentures may initially have a lower cost, they are not a permanent solution. This is because your jaw and bone structure will change and you’ll need to change your dentures when this happens, which could be more than once.
