I 100% agree. As a web designer, one of my key pieces of software is a password manager, it’s also one of the first pieces of software I recommend a new client acquire. So many of these types of software want money from you each year. To me that’s crazy, because a good password manager IMHO would have cost lost of time to develop initially and get right, but don’t fix something that isn’t broken, right?

Note that this is not an affiliate link, and I have no association with the company other than having owned the software for many years. The company occasionally makes updates when the OS has changed, but rarely charges an update fee, I mean rarely, and when they do the fees are modest and less than most yearly subs, the last fee they sent out was years ago and I have had many free updates since then.

Wordpress themes are another huge offender and I could write tomes on the various subscription models they use, so I’ll save that for another day.
