Dear Ryan: Here’s your new War on Terror

Here’s some fear mongering for you. I want your hunter and prepper friends to look like paranoid freaks. I want you to step out of your house only to live in fear of your neighbours as well as the police. I want all Americans, Muslim or otherwise, to be seen as murderous animals who require the supervision of government programs. You feared religious extremism for years; now you shall fear your countrymen.

Quibble over the semantics with me if you want to; what is “reactive response” vs what is “common sense measures”. I’ll be with my colleagues and friends trying to figure out what the elites of this country are trying to force upon us.

Left wing causes aren’t some sort of noble minority being silenced by murderers and pedophiles. Remember, the right wing has very much pioneered a lot of the techniques that the left wing are using to mobilize their voting base. They’re both authoritarian vultures who wouldn’t bat an eye if the constitution were to be burned tomorrow.

They also depend on emotional reactions like yours to their exploitative tactics to divert attention away from their disgusting behaviours.

Things change.

Politicians don’t.

I want people to stop going to the government to solve their problems. I want people to become the sort of people who would enjoy helping others. I want to cut out the middleman between the pious and the needy. I want to end the tradition of ceding power to those who call themselves just. I want to be able to go outside without having to worry about gunmen, rapists, drug dealers, or a potential Hilary Clinton administration. We can do this. Believe it or not, it will make for a better and safer world where violence, impulsive pleasure seeking, exploitation and rampant self righteousness are little more than urban legends.

It will not end the role of the politician. There will still be those that hold others under their thumb yet hold themselves inscrutable. It WILL make people think twice before forcing their opinion unto others. There will be a sustained class structure, as there is in any society where occupations carry different desirability. (And I’m not anarchist, btw. I’m a big fan of resource management/distribution! Sorry edgy millennials. I am one of you guys, btw, we’re very good people who just feel a bit lost.)

Loyalty to your people should be a prerequisite for politicians rather than just a ceremony. When you have a greater ability to affect a human life you have a greater responsibility to prove your willingness to regard laws as common values, rather than a convenient way to control others.

And that’s why I will never belittle the bill of rights.
