Destination
How does everyone keep comparing their current and previous destination as a form of advice. That wont work. Telling someone else who is currently failing or is in their lower state that things happened for the better would not make them strong. It makes them spoiled.
I keep seeing this kind of advice being viral on social media. They wrote, “Hey, you know what? If i were accepted as a medical student, i wouldn’t be a four stared General. Don’t worry, things happen for a reason.”
This advice in my very subjective point of view is a complete bullshit.
You are teaching them that if they fail, it means that something better will always happen. Its like they will always be in a protection, above a safety net, in whatever form they believe in. They are special kids who always get cool stuff for free.
Which is not.
There are possibilities in everything we do. If you didn’t get to point A with method Z, you may have to reevaluate your capability. Then you will need to choose among options available. Should you continue pursuing on how to get to point A or start pursuing another destination, both will have their own consequences to your life.
Therefore, this life is a bit more complicated than bragging your own choice-turned-out-to-be-good. Please consider that you are lucky to have such a boastfully good consequences. But really, think again.
What if this “achievement” you are talking about will actually give you skin cancer? Then, what if your previously failed destination is actually a path that would save your life? Save humanity?
There are possibilities for that. That is why there is a person who is hoping that there is a place where he can be happy, started to imagine crazy things like the parallel universe. Those possibilities are even explained in detail by the famous Schrodinger Cat and Quantum Uncertainty Theory. It will make no sense to compare your current life to a life you didn’t choose and know nothing about.
So why don’t we just step back and look to ourselves carefully. If it happened that someone out there is needing your advice, tell them that people can lose. We are not invulnerable to losing. We can be a loser and that’s okay. Show them how to pickup their own pieces, arrange it back together as they try to stand back on their own feet. Fight back.
Remember, the world can and will always try to put us down.
