So many reacted to the reaction of feminists to the Ola Cabs ad. I was also one of them, who raised an eyebrow on the Ola Cabs ad.
Many like me were not offended but reacted to it because content like this keeps publishing. That is where the problem is.
Movie/Ad makers don’t intend to be sexist. They weren’t trying to be sexist in the Ola ad too. Relatable humor indeed.
Digression. Not really!
Pink has not been the color associated with women since forever. But when celebrities, movies, songs started using the color pink, people started to correlate to it as the color for women.
The ad did not comment on every woman out there. But over the time when people watch ads like this, they begin to relate to it. Consistent consumption of content like this embeds that thought in people’s mind. Eventually becoming what we refer to as ‘Stereotype’. We disregard its existence, but unfortunately, it is out there. Prevalent, much. Gender equality is worn as a veil until you look closely.
