As we all know, Ramadan is the month in which the believers reap rewards in manifolds. We ask Allaah SWT to spare our lives to witness the holy month and do good deeds worthy of acceptance. Oh Believers! Bare in mind that the condition for acceptance of deeds are two viz. First is sincerity of intention for Allah's sake alone and the other being done in line with the prophetic methodology - sunnah. Hence, the need to thrive in incorporating this in all acts of worship. This piece intends to remind me and you of some practical ways to gain rewards in manifold.

1. Performing superogatory prayers
Explore the benefits of the extra-rewarding night prayers. Tarawih is restricted to Ramadan, so grab it and close up with the regular Qiyamu Layl. The Prophet SAW said, “Allah waits until one half or two-thirds of the night has passed and He says: ‘My slaves shall ask from no one except Me. Whoever asks from Me, I shall respond to him. Whoever asks Me for something, I will give it to him. Whoever asks for my forgiveness, I shall forgive him. And this continues until the dawn” (Sahih Al-Jami).

In addition, lets endeavour to catch extra rewards by performing the Sunnah prayers. These prayers include two rakats before Fajr, four before Dhur and two after it. In addendum, two after Maghrib and two after Isha'. We can equally tap into solatu Duha and Ishroq with the witr prayer as the last for the day.

2. Spending in the cause of Allah via charity:
If every Muslim was like the Khalifah Uthman bin Affan RA, then we'd have a balanced community with wealth distribution. He once express his passion by saying: "I need the reward more than the beggar needs the money." He spent in charity to a point where the Rasul SAW told him: "From today, there's nothing Uthman does that will harm him". Giving charity will not make you poor, it rather increases your wealth and earns you more. Now is a perfect time to invest in an everlasting charity. Dig a well, sponsor an orphan, build a masjid, equip a school, donate mus'haf to the masjid and feed the fasting people. Remember the hadith: “Whoever provides food for a fasting person to break his fast, he receives the reward of the fasting person, without the reward of the fasting person being reduced in any way.” [Tirmidhi & Ibn Majah]

3. Reciting the Qur’an:
The month of Ramadan is that in which the Qur'an was revealed. Angel Jibril used to review the Qur'an with the Messenger (SAW) every night in Ramadan. Besides, Allah SWT has been so benevolent in rewarding those who recite His book as depicted thus:

On the authority of ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (RA) who said: The Prophet (SAW) said: “Whoever reads a letter of the Book of Allah will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Laam-Meem is a letter, rather alif is a letter, laam is a letter and meem is a letter.” [Tirmidhi]

Other applications with regards the Qur'an are memorization and teaching others too. For Allah (SWT) will elevate the status of people by the virtue of this Qur'an. The Rasul (SAW) equally mentioned that: "the best of the people are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it to others". So lets make plans to complete the reading of the Qur'an in the holy month.

Remember Ramadan comes once in a year and the objective is for us to attain piety. No matter the condition we find ourselves, let's strive to reap the enormous reward. Do not overburden yourself with worship, for Allah loves deeds which are well done consistently. So let's brace up to reap the bonanza bliss. May Allah grant us His forgiveness and mercy.
