This is the second piece documenting our journey, if you missed the first it can be found on our profile page.

As the teams of eLab packed into RevIthaca, Ithaca’s entrepreneurship hub located a few miles away from campus, it became evident that we were a part of something special. A professional photographer snapped away as our accomplished advisors gave insights into their own experiences and shared lessons they learned along the way. This was our second ‘bootcamp’ with eLab, structured days packed with learning, making mistakes, and discovering how to improve our companies.

Unfortunately even the professional couldn’t keep it from looking like Brendan and I coordinated our flannel shirts. Reed is the one in the middle perfecting his soft smile.

The focus of the day was preparing for an advisor pitch event to be held in New York City, where Cornell alumni and other professionals close to the eLab organization would come together to hear the companies of the program give a brief description of their mission and ask for their support. If an individual felt they could provide value to a company they could approach the team after the presentations in the networking session that followed.

The event was held at the beautiful law offices of WilmerHale, where the breathtaking views were certainly enough to make us all reconsider our current career paths and begin studying for the LSAT. Our pitch went well and Reed did a great job presenting despite some last minute changes we threw at him and a stomach full of Shake Shack. We spoke to quite a few very intelligent individuals afterwards who offered support and opportunities, some of which I hope will be worthy of their own post at a later date. More information on our preparation, the event, and a few photos looking outside the office windows can be found here.

Having just completed our first week of classes we are now excited and eager to keep progressing. Next on our agenda is filing our corporation paperwork, which when completed will entitle us to some grant money that is associated with being a part of eLab. We will be reaching out to our assigned mentor for a bit more advice before completing those documents though, as even after exploring a few pages of a google search we still feel we could benefit from professional input.

At the present time we are exploring adding new members to the team, reconnecting with advisors and determining our next steps. Having already taken significant measures to identify our problem and target customer, we are eager to take on all that is thrown our way this upcoming semester. We hope you continue to follow along adventure and, as always, encourage you to reach out to us with any questions or feedback.
