Why we’re looking for a CRM Specialist at Catawiki…

And why we think it’s an awesome role

Let’s start with ‘why’

At Catawiki we have an amazing Marketing team focused on getting millions of new users signed up to buy and sell special items. One thing we’re missing is nurturing these relationships with our customers to ensure they come back to us time and time again. What’s particularly challenging is that we’re active in 18+ countries and our users engage with Catawiki in different ways depending on if they’re looking for a classic car or the missing stamp for their collection so we know there’s a lot more we can do with personalisation.

So that’s why we’re looking for our first Senior CRM Specialist — someone who can really take ownership of our CRM channel in terms of Email Marketing, Push Notifications and defining and shaping our customer lifecycle strategy. We know there is huge potential in our user base but what we need now is someone who can help us identify and tap into it.

Wait! What even is a Catawiki

Catawiki’s mission is to make special items available for everyone. We are one of the fastest-growing Online company’s in Europe (#13 to be precise). Our online auction website attracts 14 million monthly users from around the globe to participate in weekly auctions across a variety of categories for special objects. The items we have auctioned off include a lock of Napoleon’s hair, a mammoth skeleton and the most expensive brick of Lego ever produced! We have tripled in size over the last few years and now have over 550 employees working across Amsterdam, Assen and Europe.

Catawiki has been going for 9 years, received €80M+ investment.. but you don’t have a CRM Team yet!?

Ok we actually have quite a lot in place… a bespoke Email Marketing tool that we built ourselves (it’s already running but there’s still more functionality to build into it). We have 2 Marketers who send out Emails and handle ad-hoc requests, have content managers and copywriters, but have nobody actually leading and owning the CRM channel; making sure Emails are optimised or implementing a triggered campaign strategy.

We have enough resources in Development to help with the super technical stuff, so this role is more about communicating with the developers about the technical implementations of the tool or working closely with the data team to pull the right information from our database to make the right selections.

Why we think it’s an amazing and unique position

*Growth* You will be our first CRM specialist. We see huge potential in the CRM channel here so there would more than likely be a chance to grow with the business as the CRM team grows in size. You will have a lot of freedom and autonomy in the role, but rest assured there is support on hand when you need it.

*Ownership* How many people can say they own the Customer Lifecycle strategy and it’s execution for one of Europe’s fastest growing online businesses? How many CRM jobs are with companies who have 14 million monthly visitors to their website? How many jobs offer the freedom to be innovative, experiment, take risks and make a a huge impact? Hint — not many!

*Learning* You will report directly to the CMO and be part of our growing (25 people strong) Marketing team of international, driven talents who have joined us from some of the best Online brands around the world.

What will you actually be doing?

This!:

  1. Activation of new Catawiki users

2. Reactivation of inactive / dormant users

3. Conversion of bidders to sellers

4. Setup dripped campaigns based on triggers in our customer journey

5. Automation of our own CRM tooling (either improving our existing tool or helping us to build or buy a new one)

6. Reporting and optimizing on CLM stages and campaigns

7. Improve inbox placement of Catawiki Emails by investigating topics around deliverability.

You want to apply… but you’re still not sure

We can’t believe you’re not already convinced! But…

Take a look at this list below, if you have most of these ticked off, combined with an entrepreneurial mindset, ambition and are as excited as us about taking Catawiki to the next level, then apply to the role directly or shoot me an email: j.lesner@catawiki.nl

  • You have demonstrable experience in a strategic role and set up a CRM program for a fast moving, high traffic online business. You were born to A/B test!
  • We titled the role ‘Senior’ but this is just a word. If you have some experience already combined with the drive to take Catawiki to the next level, we’re sure you will become a ‘senior’ here in good time.
  • You are motivated to continuously think of and implement new strategies and campaigns that will drive more results and optimize them based on data.
  • Results-oriented. Data driven. Someone who proactively drives insights and tries to understand the ‘why’ behind these insights.
  • Experienced with marketing automation, email marketing, deliverability and inbox rate optimization.
  • HTML and CSS skills are desirable but not essential. The same goes for SQL skills.
  • Not afraid to be hands-on — this means sometimes setting up templates, campaigns, text, copy, body, images etc.
