Crowdsale has ended. What’s next?
Hello All,
Thank you for the participation in our crowdsale. We initially planned for the crowdsale to last for one month, but we met our cap of 5.5mio usd in half a day.
This is the first time that a crowdsale has occurred fully decentralized on the blockchain, and through a Mist / Standard Wallet.
The website live status that some of you have seen came from serving web content with Geth.
Pledgers were able to send ETH from their mist wallet to the token contract in a fully decentralized manner.
Digix is proud to say that we were the first to make a live transaction on Ethereum, the first to launch live beta on Ethereum, and now, the first to run a fully on-chain crowdsale for DigixDAO. The Ethereum community also voluntarily verified our source code. The crowdsale was as transparent as it can ever be using blockchain technology.
However, there were several issues with exchange pledges, and we are very sorry that you were not able to participate if you sent in too early / too late / too little gas attached. If exchanges do not make the gas fees variable like in mist, the transactions will fail to execute, thus remaining in the exchanges’ wallet. We have reached out to the more popular exchanges and the refunds are currently being processed as of now.
The Ethereum ecosystem is still in its nascent stage, much to do with its newness (just moved into Homestead 2 weeks ago) and familiarizing with its quirks and features. This will of course improve over time. Ethereum differs from bitcoin in the way transactions are handled, as every contract executes at a different gas price, rather than a fixed processing fee in bitcoin. Therefore, if your exchange / wallet does not let users set a variable gas fee, there is a possibility that your transaction did not execute.
We will be updating over the next few days
- Roadmap during this window and after April 28
- How to claim your DGD tokens in Mist after April 28
- Current Developments
- The potential of DigixDAO
Thanks again for your participation and we will continue to be in touch.
