Digix has been busy on the road for the past 3 weeks and we would just like to provide a brief on the events that occurred.

Week 1 — Trip to Shanghai (May 16–20)

The team flew out to Shanghai to meet and greet developers at WanXiang blockchain labs, who are taking an active role spurring blockchain developments in China. This trip was to promote and educate our friends in China about our product offering. We exchanged ideas and advice, and most of all, we left Shanghai having made good friends in the blockchain space. Some of the personnels we met include ChainB’s founder, James, who runs a prominent media site about blockchain developments and would be a valuable to Digix in increasing our coverage in China, ItBit Cofounder, Richmond Teo, who has offered very good advice about our business and potential points of collaboration, as well as the team at Yunbi exchange.

Week 2 (May 23–27)

When we arrived back to Singapore, Chris Hitchcott, our Front end engineer, did an engaging presentation about Ethereum to the local meet up group. The turnout to the event was phenomenal. We were glad to see that ethereum fans are growing exponentially in Singapore! Digix helps to run the largest meet up group for Ethereum in Asia, and we are happy to continue doing this outreach because we fervently believe that Ethereum IS the future. Jeriaska, blockchain editor / journalist from the Ongaku also came over for a private audit of our vaults, and wrote an article about his experience of the vault visit.

Week 3 (May 30 — Jun 3)

Vitlik’s visit to Singapore.

We had a great time hosting Vitalik in Singapore last week. He came with the DigixGlobal team to visit the Singapore Freeport, where Digix Gold is kept, and had a good idea about how the vaulting operations are done.

It wasn’t just all work and no play, and we had some really good conversations with him throughout the week about governance models for the DAO and how we should structure DGX. We were also part of a few round table discussions about the blockchain with various other exciting blockchain startups in Singapore.

Round Table discussion

Vitalik did a great presentation about Ethereum to the local community that very evening and we got to meet some prominent folks in the Ethereum space, namely, Matthew from Etherscan and Rune from MakerDAO.

Thats it!

Our next update will be on the state of DigixCore client 2.0, as well as DigixDAO governance, and how today’s MAS’ announcement of a regulatory Sandbox for Fintech in Singapore will shape the way DigixGlobal moves forward.
