“Payton should’ve given Vucevic a Lyft” made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. However, it was followed by a very good point: “…late-game situations are all about making the smartest decisions within the constraints of the situation.” One of the challenges of any possession seems to be deciding whether or not to pass up a pretty good shot in hopes of finding the perfect shot, but that challenge really gets amplified in an end-of-game situation.
I really enjoyed this article. For me, a long-form sports article is worth my time if it gives me a better understanding of something instead of just being an inflammatory hot take or a buzzfeed list of things that I already knew. That was what I liked about Grantland and why I liked this article. Keep up the good work.
