Off the field, he’s one of the most friendly and charismatic people you may ever meet.

Overall, Newton is a great person and athlete, but he’s the most overrated athlete in sports today. He’s not even a top-10 QB.

Every metric says he’s average to above average at best. Throughout the span of 91 games in his career, he’s only 50–40–1. He has been mostly elevated because of 10 games. Not this previous year, but the year before, he had one single 10-game win streak during their 2015 run to the Super Bowl.

The Panthers played only the second weakest schedule in the NFL at the time to the New York Jets, and all they did was ride an emotional hot streak that Cam receives great credit for. Even when they represented the NFC in the Super Bowl. Cam and the Panthers weren’t very good for the first seven weeks of that year.

Pro Football Focus is currently saying what is, metrically and statistically true. That he is not an elite quarterback in the league today. Going from 8th in 2015, to not even cracking the top 101 overall players in 2016.

Cam’s career has been very inconsistent, having more seasons that good. Despite his one flash in a pan MVP season.

He is nowhere near the level of Tom Brady, Drew Brees, or Aaron Rodgers. Guys that I think are the top three quarterbacks in the league today.

Now, anybody would be crazy to deny his remarkable talents. But Cam’s overall game shouldn’t be compared the great ones. The level of consistency, pre-snap manipulation, and poise they show on a weekly basis is something I feel Cam Newton lacks.

Which is why I believe he is the most overrated player in professional sports and until he proves me otherwise I’ll be sticking with that.
