Houston’s Iconic Late Night Eats
It’s Saturday. Raucous groups and well-dressed couples fill the sidewalk, forming buzzing lines that never seem to fall below 60 people before more eager faces join the queue. This isn’t a scene outside of one of Houston hottest new midtown joints. It’s after-hours, 2:30 A.M.; the bars and clubs have ushered out straggling patrons. Though for many Houstonians, the night isn’t over — it has just begun. Gaggles of friends flock to their favorite eateries to satisfy late-night cravings that can only be quenched by devouring Houston’s best sweet, savory, and salty dishes. Where do you go when the bars let out and the drunk munchies kick in? Here are our picks.
Yoyo’s Hot Dogs
Morningside Drive in Rice Village is packed with patrons waiting for what many Houstonians consider the “Hot dog that will change your life at first bite!” Yoyo himself mans the small stand with mastery. Directly in front of him, onions caramelize and hot dogs roast to perfection. To his right, buttered buns toast, filling the air with a smell that brings to mind memories of grilling with family on July 4th. He begins to spread warm cream cheese on the bun, filling these bad-boys “All the Way”.
At only $4 each, this is the only true way to consume a Yoyo dog —overflowing with toppings. With finesse, Yoyo tops each dog with Spicy Mustard, Curry Ketchup, Honey Mayo, and Sriracha. One of Yoyo’s hotdogs is never enough after a night of dancing and drinking. Satisfied diners walk away from the stand arms filled to the brim with these treats —most of which will likely disappear before they get to their rides home.

Oh My Gogi!
The Korean-Mexican fusion truck Oh My Gogi can be found on lists of best food trucks in Houston and America; it holds a special, kimchi-filled place in the hearts of many. Fan-favorite menu item is the OMG Fries — crispy french fries topped with marinated Korean bulgogi guaranteed to make you drool. Our suggestion: for an extra $3, try the fries with caramelized onions, kimchi, and a sunny-side-up egg. Fries not your favorite? Their bulgogi burgers and variety of Korean-Mexican tacos deliver lip-smacking deliciousness guaranteed to fulfill all of your late-night cravings.

House of Pies
If your group wants to sit down and enjoy a diner-style meal after a long night out, House of Pies offers plenty of seating at their two Houston locations. Open 24–7, Houstonians can rest their feet any time of day and enjoy a delicious selection of rich, heavenly pies. Their uncontested house signature is the pillowy, crumbly Bayou Goo pie made with pecans, custard, whipped cream, chocolate, and cream cheese. A heft slice of warm Strawberry Rhubarb pie is a Dindr team favorite — a la mode of course! Not in the mood for pies? BB’s Cafe
Tex-Mex meets bold New Orleans Cajun cuisine at Houston’s renowned BB’s Cafe. After a long night out, their 24–7 Montrose location will ensure that you go home salted, spiced, and satisfied. We recommend starting off with an order of pollo bullet: tender chicken stuffed with cream cheese and jalapeños, wrapped in bacon, served with savory Cajun cream sauce. We go wild for Grits, boudin balls, gumbo, and po-boys galore — their main menu calls for multiple visits to enjoy each and every divine dish. During crawfish season, BB’s is a strong contender for best Cajun critters in town. It’s no wonder most Houstonians are restaurant regulars, including Queen Bee, Beyonce Knowles herself.

Frank’s Pizza
Are you DTF (Down to Frank’s?!) because we are. It’s 2:30 A.M. and you’ve just left one of Houston’s hoppin’ downtown bars — Bovine & Barley or The Pastry War. You’ve got a few choices for a solid slice of ‘za, but if you know what’s right, you’re going to Frank’s. For less than $10, you can get enough pizza to make you regret nothing but your decision to drink that last vodka water the next day. We get down with the SCRUMPTIOUS SUPREME — It’s Frank’s most popular pizza loaded with pepperoni, hamburger, sausage, green peppers, tomatoes, black olives, mushrooms and onions. If you’re not in the mood for pizza here, you’re in the wrong place and should probably… go home, you’re drunk.
