DNTRL : Top 6 Natural Hair Care Tips
1. Water, Water, & MORE Water.
Yeah, a lot of you might say:
“My hair eats water. It’s just going to suck it up & be dry again”.
That’s okay, just do it. It helps in moisturizing your hair, that’s not your last step.
2. Sulfate Free Products
Not much to explain here. I only use Shea Moisture. They are sulfate free. Sulfate a strip your hair of moisture. & Shea moisture has a product for everything in my opinions They work wonders for my hair & I highly recommend. Shampoo, Leave In, Masque, Creme’s, Skin Products, the whole 9 you name it, I use it.
The Hair Masque’s are the SHIT !!
3. Grease & Oil
Personally, I LOVE Cold Pressed Coconut oil. It’s VERY light, but it keeps moisture locked into your hair & scalp well. Personally, I melt it & mix it into my leave in so it can coat my hair. But I also have a spray bottle with Coconut oil & water for my scalp.
If I use a grease, it’s typically Coconut oil or Olive Oil based. The only two oils I really put on my hair, although I prefer Coconut.
Make sure you massage your scalp & somehow cover your hair in the oil. Not too much, but enough to lock moisture.
4. Brush Your Hair
People say:
Don’t brush your hair, it makes your hair fall out.
Though this is true, brushing your hair helps your dead & weak hairs fall out.
Brushing also helps keep your hair soft & create a curl pattern.
Brush your hair while it is damp, but close to dry.
5. Don’t Be Afraid to Try New Things/Have Bad Hair Days.
Always be willing to try new things on your hair. Mine was damaged, I cut it off. A year later, we’re at the same length as then. I was scared as hell, but I did it.
Last night for the first time, I tried a 3 strand twist out. I made my parts & twisted in the direction I wanted my hair to lay. This was my outcome …

My hair is not super long & my shrinkage is real. The twist shrunk more than expected. Excuse my face, I was upset with it.
So this is where we ended …

Silly faces & simple fro’s. Baby girl say “hey” you guys.
6. Repeat
I don’t wash my hair everyday. But I wet it to stretch my curls & added product when needed. & of course retest when the curls fade out. But that’s pretty much it. The main hair care tips I can give you on having natural hair.
