State Representative William O’Brien Endorses Endorses James Diossa for General Treasurer

Today, James Diossa’s campaign for General Treasurer announces that it earned the support of Representative William O’Brien. Representative O’Brien, a Deputy Majority Leader, has served in the House of Representatives since his election in 2012 and presently sits on the House Finance Committee. “I back James Diossa’s campaign 100%,” said Representative O’Brien in support.

“Since his election, Representative O’Brien has been a remarkable advocate for college affordability and completion,” said Diossa. “He knows how important it is to invest in our schools, and in our children.” Diossa continued, “for example, his legislation providing for dual enrollment programs allows high school students to save on education costs by enrolling in collegiate courses that count toward both their high school and higher education degrees. It’s smart legislation like this that goes a long way in supporting Rhode Island’s students.”

“As Treasurer,” said Diossa, “I will be a tireless advocate for continued school construction as part of the Rhode Island School Construction Task Force.” “During my time as Mayor of Central Falls, I saw the impact school conditions have on our students. That is why I fought for funding to revamp our facilities; an initiative which I am proud to say finally came to pass under the present administration.”

Representative O’Brien, a lifelong Rhode Islander and graduate of North Providence high school, works as a math teacher in the Providence public school system.
