George, this article is great for its uplifting view of possibility for humankind. There is much to think on and investigate. I don’t think you used the term but you give us many questions to live into. Not leap to quick answers and immediate action. Seems appropriate for the scale of things you are talking about.

I think one of our big challenges, big questions, is what scale of action can be effective at. Many small actions are the nature of emergent evolution so scale is most important when we overreach than when we don’t. Where that point is, I believe, is different for all of us. My reach seems to end at for-profit organizations and be most comfortable at local community levels.

Thanks for this article.

My postscript is to explore the fundamental nature of the evolution you are talking about. At its largest scale, I can’t grapple with it and take the course that dealing with what I can influence along with being attentive to what seems right is all I can do. At the human scale, I think we need to develop the scale of social organization that we are competent with and try and pull back those social organizations that have gone beyond human scale until they transform and become true expressions of the best in humans as social entities.
