This is a wonderful story. I grew up in Vancouver, BC Canada in much gentler times. Since I was a teenager engaged in all the available sports I knew most of the gyms, courts and fields in the city. I was always frustrated because I want to practice and play with others at a high level but there was very little way to play in gyms. Yet all weekend and all evenings, the gyms were empty. I thought why don’t then rent then by the hour? I even approached schools who owned the majority of gyms and offered to organize teenage play for a fee to them. “No dice. It just can’t be done.” was the only response.

Your article means we can imagine a whole city this way. Fabulous!
