Hôtel Ritz Paris — Now in Your Home

When the grand Hôtel Ritz Paris reopened its doors on June 6, 2016, after an extensive four-year renovation, the world was waiting with baited breath to see how the legendary hotel — already considered a bastion of high elegance — had upped its game. Multi-star hotels situated in the most stylish arrondissements of Paris are reputed for the decadent comfort and charm of their modern interiors, but none of them seem to possess the one thing that the Ritz does — its ultra-glamorous history. The hotel, that became home to Coco Chanel after World War II, has also played house to Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Cole Porter, Ingrid Bergman, Charlie Chaplin, Ernest Hemingway, and the Prince of Wales, among others. With a successful renovation that resulted in a faithful reproduction of its past avatar (but with thoroughly modern facilities and amenities), the newly-reopened Ritz has stayed loyal to the dream of Cesar Ritz — to be — and remain — a hotel that offers unparalleled opulence and elegance.

We love the Ritz not only for its luxurious decor but also for all its historical and literary associations. So when we heard the news of its reopening, our love for its stunning interiors inspired one of our talented designers to create two mood boards — one for the renowned Hemingway Bar and the other for the Chanel suite. If the venerated hotel is on your bucket list, you needn’t wait to jet to Paris, to get a taste of its French glam. Be inspired by our mood boards and see how you can recreate a bit of the Ritz sparkle in your own home!

Stories about the Ritz usually always end up referencing the Bar Hemingway, named after American author Ernest Hemingway, who frequented the hotel along with his friends in the late 1920s. A homage to Hemingway and his love for hunting, the bar is full of decor that speaks to the great outdoors — with deer antlers lining the walls and photos of Hemingway to accompany them, being a few noteworthy touches. The bar was restored keeping in mind early 18th-century French décor with tufted back leather sofas, hammerhead detailed lounge chairs, and leather bar stools, complemented by vintage lighting. We’ve recreated the classic bar for your home with our choice of furniture — a Leather Chesterfield Sofa and a Leatherette Accent Chair in black, complemented by the Wooden Antler Wall Decor and the Leather Counter Stool.

The Ritz Paris has carried with it the reputation of being a haven of somewhat clandestine affairs. The story of the discovery of a 17th-century painting in the room occupied by Coco Chanel years after her death raised questions about her relationship with the Nazis. Notwithstanding trivia that also made the Ritz famous and a go-to place for travelers who love to visit hotels lived in by famous personalities, the classic elegance of the Ritz’ interiors has always been the first reason for its fame! Chanel lovers will love the bespoke suite named after her. In the world of interiors and decor, the Chanel Suite is a wonder in itself.

A tribute to the fashion designer’s simplistic yet elegant style, the design of the suite demonstrates her love for black and white. The 18th-century Parisian influences can be seen in the wall paneling, the choice of plush silk drapes and the attention to detail in the colour, richness and texture of the upholstery. So why wait? Let this mood board inspire you to recreate the suite for your own home.

As founder of Hôtel Ritz Paris, Cesar Ritz said of the most beautiful house in France:

I dream of a house that I will be proud to carry my name.”

The freshly-restored Ritz would surely make the eminent Swiss hotelier proud.
