#365DaysOfWriting Day 44: Enjoying The Rains
I can never get enough of the rains! Yes, they can be quite a nuisance; especially those times when you step out of your house, all decked up in your best attire, only to be splashed at by a car passing at full speed. There are times when you have your umbrella but the rains are so heavy that you might as well shut your umbrella and walk for the umbrella can definitely not protect you!
Rains are best enjoyed indoors — getting wet can be fun but the repercussions can be severe. Every time I have played truant and enjoyed myself a little too much in the rains, I have been in bed the next day with mild fever and a bad cold. As I’ve become wiser with age, I love being in my house when it rains outside. Watching the rain from my balcony while I sip hot chocolate or coffee is an underrated pleasure of life…And while I am not filmy enough to dance in the rains anymore like some Bollywood heroine, I like listening to music within the comforts of my home.
Today, I am listing down some of my favourite songs related to the rains in no particular order:
Garaj Baras: This song from ‘Paap’ is what you should hear when it is pouring thunder and rain outside! Sharing the ‘Coke Studio’ version — do check it out if you haven’t! You are sure to fall in love with it!
Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head: You are sure to hum this song when you feel those light drizzles falling on you and do a hurried jig to find a safe spot to take shelter. I just love this song! Do you?
Chak Dhoom Dhoom: I have actually spent my childhood hearing this song, and being taught the steps! This song makes it to my list for the pure nostalgia factor — I remember the time when my mom made me join dance-classes as she thought I was becoming rather one-dimensional being totally lost in my world of books, and this was one of the first songs I was taught! To this date when I hear this song, I cringe remembering the steps I used to dance to, and it just makes me laugh out loud!
Majhi Re: This song by Shaan is a mix of Hindi and Bengali. I’ve shared this one before, but it is on my list of all-time favourites. I love listening to it during the rains, especially when I see little kids outside playing with paper-boats.
Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si: This is quite an old song but it happens to be one of my favourite Kishore Kumar numbers. It still makes it to my list of favourite rain-songs!
Pyar Hua Ikraar Hua Hai: Another old classic but it is such a beautiful song picturised in the rains. Wouldn’t you like to walk in the rains under an umbrella with your sweetheart? It captures the true romantic nature of the rains in my opinion.
Sawan Beeto Jaaye: Confession — This is a song I absolutely love and I hear it all seasons, come rain, come sun, but I just had to include it on this list as well.
Which songs do you like to hear when the rains get you down? Which songs lift your mood? Let me know!
If you liked listening to the songs I shared, do tap the heart at the end of the post to let me know!
