Should Your Dog Sleep on the Bed with You?

Well…the answer isn’t cut and dry. Our own dogs do enjoy a nap in our bed on occasion (like Marly in the pic). It doesn’t make them “alpha” or “leader of the pack” — it’s a reward that they have earned from extensive training and good manners in other areas.

A dog sharing the bed with you will not create behavior problems that don’t ALREADY exist. If your dog is already pushy, ill mannered or shows signs of aggression, then giving them that freedom will make the matters worse.

So, you need to be honest with yourself…did your dog really earned this freedom? End of the day, it’s up to you to make sure you give your dog the structure and guidance THEY need, not the things YOU want.
