More on the Krieg’s possible nerf

Lately, there has been much talk of a possible Krieg nerf, with many pros demanding it. The general public seems to be divided on the issue. In my opinion, it all boils down to a simple philosophical question: should scoped rifles have a first-rate place in the game? Should AUG and SG be a viable alternative to M4 and AK?

For me, the answer is yes. And if you accept that the scoped rifles should be viable to use as main rifles, there is no basis for a Krieg nerf. The numbers say so. Just look at the weapon stats from HLTV, for the last month (because we want current data and SG has been gaining popularity lately).

The most popular weapon, AK-47, has 23% of the pie. The second most popular, SG-556, has nearly 21%. This basically means that both rifles are now used equally. Everything is OK. In my opinion, Valve should ONLY consider the nerf if SG surpasses AK substantially. I’d be OK with bringing the old price back, though (+ $250). That would be a good compromise.

Let’s look at the CT rifles. M4, the third most popular gun, has almost 20%. AUG — 2.5%. Now THIS is imbalanced. In simple terms, nobody uses the AUG after the nerf, meaning Valve went WAY overboard with it. They should buff it back so that AUG is used at least once for every two M4 uses. In other words, I’d say that it should have at least 10% of the pie, four times as much as it has currently.
