Both industry chieftains now wield credible competitors to Tesla’s Model 3: the Chevy Bolt and the newer Nissan Leaf.
I have to disagree here. It’s analagous to some reports of high end electric cars being planned by big auto makers as their “Tesla [Model S] killer”
The Model S doesn’t compete with electric cars. It competes with high end luxury sedans. In the same sense, the Tesla Model 3 competitors are the Lexus IS, Cadillac ATS, BMW 3 series, etc.
On the other hand, the Leaf and Bolt have only a *single thing* in common with the Model 3 - they run on electricity.
