No reason at all? To think an intelligent CEO and founder of a hugely successful company couldn’t make more efficient use of his capital than random non profit charities. Regardless, there really is no reason to believe the giving pledge is a better model either. It’s ridiculous to see this decision criticized, much more labeled a loophole. You paint this decision to be a more selfish one because Mark gets to decide what is good for the world and use his money with complete control. How exactly does one decide which charities to donate to if not by deciding what is “good” themselves. You do mention one of the most powerful aspects of this decision though, but you group it together with other frowned upon possibilities which result from the LLC. I’m speaking about the option to invest in other profitable companies! Mark can invest in companies that are making the world a better place while simultaneously growing the amount of money he can donate and invest with. Shame on you for criticizing a decision like this one.
He thinks he can do a better job. Maybe he can, although I don’t have any reason to believe that’s true.
