Dear DNC voting members, today is a very important day for the future of democracy, participation and the United States. We lost the 2016 election and we lost bad but if no one else is saying it, let me lay out what occurred. The election was not lost by third party voters. The election was not lost by sexist. The election was not lost by Bernie bros, the Russians, racist, fascist, blacks, Latinos, the working poor or the elite. No, it was lost by the Democrats, hands down. What do i mean by this? I’m not attacking the DNC because they didn’t prevent voters from going out but somewhere along the way, the inspiration, not the ability, to go out and vote was not deemed necessary. Republicans came out and voted in the same numbers as 2008, 2012 and 2016. Democrats? Not so much. Even our state, Wisconsin of all places, went red! Trump flipped Obama Republicans back and no one inspired the rest of the electorate. We need inspiration and fast. Tom Perez may have enough of a political record but the main case for him is that he’s just as progressive as Keith Ellison. Then vote for Keith Ellison if he’s the standard bearer. In all reality, if he can inspire the activist wing, is willing to stop lobbyist from influencing the DNC AND quit his job to make this party great again, then that should be sufficient. Keith risks more than Tom. He’s proven not only that he can get things done by winning multiple elections butby getting some of the highest voter turnout in his district. We always love to point to Minnesota as being a progressive state when comparing it to Scott Walker’s failed state, but why not put our money where our mouth is when voting for one of their own? Detroit born, Minnesota experienced, election winning, activist inspiring, African American, Muslim American, progressive values representive Keith Ellison deserves your vote. Americans deserve Keith Ellison. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Let’s change the playbook because Trump is coming after all of us. The Muslims, the gay, the Latinos, the sick, no one is safe. Will you help make us safe?
