A lot can be told from how people treat beggars.
Do they try to see through them, avoiding eye contact? Or do they acknowledge the other as a person, a real person with feelings, a past, and hopefully a future? I strive to look at my fellow human, and regardless whether I help them financially or not, acknowledge their existence. The difference between him and me is just one case of bad luck.
