  1. Healthcare is 20% of the US economy. It impacts 100% of it. Higher costs, sicker populations, unemployed/underpaid healthcare workers dramatically impact the economy — everything from housing prices to wages to tax rates. The costs of healthcare are essentially priced into everything you buy (and every tax you pay) — spiraling costs, sicker population, fewer options will drag down the whole economy. Blowing up the ACA marketplaces and/or shrinking Medicaid could easily lead to a recession.
