Very well articulated. Important point you’re making. For the most part, all Americans want the same basic things. What separates us generally is perception about how to get there or alternatively, why we haven’t/can’t/won’t get there.

We’re all susceptible to confirmation bias — when we hear a plausible explanation that lines up with what we already expect/feel/have experienced, we latch onto it. It’s how a (likely narcissist) luxury brand/real estate developer/reality tv star can be the candidate of “working people”. He confirms what they believe to be true (especially “otherism” and various other “ism’s”).
