You could change a few nouns (replace VC with client/customer/professor/investor/recruiter/hiring manager, etc) and this would be great advice for all selling/building network/recruiting/etc. Aiming only at meeting the most senior people at any organization may sound/feel good, but often isn’t the most efficient path in short run and definitely not in the long run.
