Do These 4 Things To Get Results

A time-tested method for personal & professional growth

Doug Stewart

This morning I was having a conversation with my Mentor and he told me about a quote that was shared with him. It went like this:

“Chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken.”

It reminded me of this group of amazing humans that completed the Dale Carnegie Program last night.

For 8-weeks, they supported each other as they did their work to create new and life-changing habits.

They came into session 1 as strangers and left session 8 as family. And when I think about it, there are a few common denominators.

1) Awareness

They were willing to take an objective view of what they wanted to participate in a process that would help them create the space for them to do the important (and sometimes hard) work of self-reflection. The noticed the things that they wanted to change and were willing to take the next step.

2) Information

They were all willing to take in new information. They took the challenge to see the world differently and listen to others. They relied on time-tested wisdom from the past and were willing to grapple with it and consider the hard questions of, “So, what can I do with this?”

3) Practice

They were willing to try something new and not accept the status quo. They were willing to accept the fact that they weren’t who they have always been. They were able to create something new. They found a safe place in the Dale Carnegie Program to “try on” new ways of being and courageous enough to take the next step.

4) Real World Application

Most people never see the results they would like to see because they aren’t willing to put their knowledge to practice. The Dale Carnegie Program gave this group the opportunity to practically apply their knowledge in the real world.

Let’s be honest, we all know someone who knows a lot (book smarts) but has no ability to translate their knowledge into a real and meaningful skill. This group showed me once again that when you are committed to awareness, information, practice and real-world application, nothing is impossible.

If you are interested in learning more about how the Dale Carnegie Program could help you achieve your goals and get you to the next level, LET’S CHAT.

One more thing…

There was one more thing they did.

They kept the main thing the main thing.

In fact, that was the topic that we talked about on this weeks Off The Top Podcast.
