Why I supported Ted Cruz and still do.

For me, it is not about personality. It is not about looks or hair styles. It is not about who can yell the loudest or come up with ridiculous names for other candidates. It is and will always be about the founding principles of this nation. It is about a consistent and proven record; show me what you have done and supported, so that I know where you are going. Prove to me that your words are matched by actions of your past. I need to know that I can vote based on substance not rhetoric, truth not lies, humility not arrogance. These are things I believe someone who is forward thinking should take into consideration when voting for something as important as the next President of these United States.

This election cycle seems to fly in the face of anything rational. On the left, you have a serial liar and hopeful candidate for a federal prison. On the right, you have an inconsistent blowhard, TV personality who has bullied his way to the nomination. Both of these candidates only offer our country more problems. Neither of them talk about reducing the burden of government on the citizens of this great nation. Neither of them talk about why America is the greatest country to ever exist. Neither of them offer the voters much of a contrast. You have two individuals who have been buddies for decades, claiming the other is unfit for the Oval Office.

Supporting Ted Cruz was one of the easiest things that I have had to do. I volunteered both in Iowa and South Carolina. Everyone I worked with was top notch and dedicated to the cause. We all supported Ted Cruz because we knew he supported us and what made this country great. Everyone understood that it was not just about “the man” or the candidate, but what his positions were and why he supported them. He has a proven conservative record. He is consistent and rock solid on the constitution.

As I said, my decision was easy, supporting Senator Cruz meant that I was choosing to support a candidate who loves liberty, who truly understands what is at stake in this election. He is not perfect, non of us are, but he was and is the best choice.

No matter what comes next, I know that I will have stood with millions of others who chose to support not just a candidate; but liberty. We all worked hard, dedicated large portions of our lives in order to promote the cause of Liberty. Four years from now, I hope that Senator Cruz choose to run again.

America needs a leader who values freedom.

America needs a leader who is willing to fight for what is right, not make deals.

We need a voice for Liberty. We are the shining city on the hill. We need someone who will keep that torch lit for generations to come.
