White Privilege: A Modern Sword of Damocles
Olatunji Jesutomisin

The concept of “white privilege” got started with the crazy feminesta Peggy McIntosh wrote in 1988 her paper “White Privilege and Male Privilege — a personal account of coming to see correspondences through work in women’s studies”.

She describes 46 ways that her privilege gives her an advantage over people who have more pigment in their skin (I’m a cat, all I see is black & white and shades of stupid).

Here are the highlights:

#20 I can do well in a challenging situation w/o being called a credit to my race. (I guess only white humans can do this?)

#25 if a traffic cop pulls me over or if the IRS audits my tax return, I can be sure I haven’t been singled out because of my race. (where does it ask for race on an IRS tax form?)

My personal favorite:

#46 I can choose blemish cover or bandages in “flesh” color and have them more or less match my skin.

(sarc warning)

Thanks to The Man to allow me a greater advantage in life because I can now cover up my cut with a bandage that no one can see. Jewish, Middle Eastern, Blacks, Hispanics, Indian, Asian, Pacific Islander or anything that race that I left out should feel embarrassed and ashamed because I can cover up my cut while others can’t!

While anyone with a bit of common sense shouldn’t take #46 seriously, others did & took Peggy’s work one step further. Now we the evil patriarchy and people buying into this myth.
