The Change We Wish To Be

Peaceful revolution necessitates that we “weaponize” our love and compassion. In an unjust world full of suffering the most effective tools for effecting lasting change are love and compassion. A great irony underpins the challenge — every person on earth is born with these tools and yet so few take up arms and enter the fight against injustice.

Mahatma Gandhi famously said, “We have to be the change wish to see in the world.”

When you first heard of Docademic, think back, was it the righteousness of the humanitarian mission that drew you in or an outliers price prediction and the promise of riches? Regardless of what motivated you initially, still, here you are days or weeks or months deep in your position. The market is depressed and your position might be weighing on your conscience. You may be wondering if there is a faster buck frolicking somewhere in the crypto forest?

But what if you were sitting right now at the dinner table discussing the plight of the poor with your children. How can we solve the problem of half the world’s population having no access to healthcare. What does this even mean — higher infant mortality rates, higher suicide rates, shorter life span, distressed family’s breaking apart, higher divorce rates, increased presence of physical and emotional abuse in the household, increased rates of random violence in the community, higher rates of drug abuse. The whole fabric of society hinges on physical and mental health. It’s not a stretch to say that the future of humanity will be directly related to the final outcome of the healthcare crises.

To live a shortened, stressful life without access to care is literally traumatizing. All of the stressors year after year mounting and debilitating ones whole being — and then the fabric tears, mental health begins to suffer, anxiety turns to constant fear. Mothers and fathers cannot function as parents, children cannot function as students — the process of the decay of daily life sets in — the condition of society at large is increasingly compromised. The workforce is drained by illness, civil unrest ensues, civil wars break out, tyrants rise to power and then all manners of social justice and human rights are displaced.

It is realistic to say that health and healing are in fact a legitimate form of resistance against all manners of instability at both the individual and societal level. The overarching problem for the poor and underserved: they are incapable of helping themselves. The situation demands activated love and compassion that empowers our humanity, that can effectively combat this rampant injustice and ensure our species long term survival.

It happens that all the world’s governments have been unable to find a viable economic solution / healthcare business model. Enter Docademic! This is why Charles Nader can use the word revolutionary when discussing the project’s mission statement. The stakes are unfathomably high. The mission is nothing less than healthcare justice.

We all know what we wouldn’t tell our children at the dinner table: “When lambo? When moon?

Please take a moment today and think long and hard about the project you are supporting. The weaponization of love and compassion is intrinsic to Docademic’s goals. This social justice project “is” the answer to the worldwide need for free basic healthcare. The team and it’s ever growing community will disrupt the crises and turn it around. We the community will one day know we helped save the future of mankind. That’s a powerful truth — Now own it.
