If you’re interested in the latest business practices like me, you are also aware of the future role P2P (peer-to-peer) will play in digital marketing. It’s easy to see the trends and predict that P2P marketing will win over B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-consumer). The real person to person connection is invaluable. Flixxo, a decentralized video platform, is just perfect for such P2P marketing.

At June 25th, the Flixxo Platform will be available in a test-phase for the first 10,000 user

Problems with Current Content Distribution Platforms and Marketing

Over the last century, technology has played a vital role in changing the landscape of marketing. Changes in print and broadcast mediums have kept businesses on their tiptoes. With every change, businesses had to rethink their strategies. In the last century, radio and television were the most important communication mediums. But the internet is the medium of choice for content distribution in the twenty-first century. Platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat were developed around the ethos of distributing content across the internet. The landscape is still new and businesses are still trying to figure out how to navigate this new frontier.

The recent Facebook Cambridge Analytica scandal has risen the question of ethical marketing. But another scandal connected to YouTuber Logan Paul illustrates the problem with the current state of content distribution platforms and marketing limitations.

Logan Paul, a big YouTube content creator, filmed a dead body of a suicide victim hanging from a tree. The video received a lot of views. It even was showcased on YouTube’s trending section. It was monetized. So big-name brands were advertised during the playing of the video. Of course, the companies weren’t happy about being associated with this controversial content.

When the story broke out on the media, there was a severe backlash. Logan Paul apologized and took down the video. YouTube was criticized for allowing such content to slip by. YouTube promised to hire 10,000 human moderators to check future content. Besides that, it changed its policy stating that YouTube ads will be shown in channels that have at least 1,000 subscribers and has accumulated 4,000 “watch hours” in the last 12 months. Content creators make money from the ads. The result was that small content creators who have smaller viewership started to lose their incomes.

This YouTube scandal was a perfect storm. Nobody was happy. The businesses were unhappy because their reputation was sullied by advertising on a controversial video. There was outrage from the consumers about the content. The smaller content creators also got hurt in the process due to the policy changes.

Flixxo as the P2P Marketing Solution

Flixxo is a decentralize video platform built on the blockchain. If you look at the YouTube distribution model, it still follows the marketing model from radio and television. Businesses don’t have control over who sees their advertisement. Content creators are at the mercy of the platform. And consumers also don’t have any say in what advertisements are presented to them. It’s a centralized model of distribution. As a distributed video platform, here’s how Flixxo can solve these problems:

· Direct Connections: Businesses will be able to forge direct connections with consumers. They don’t have to worry about middlemen. In the Flixxo platform, businesses pay the consumers with tokens called Flixx to look at their products. It means consumers have a say in what ads they are watching. At the same time, the businesses are making one-to-one connections with the customers.

· Less Noise: The social media landscape is full of noise. There are so many businesses vying for consumer attention that ultimately consumers are tuning out all the noise. In a Flixxo environment, due to the P2P marketing, businesses don’t have to compete in an overcrowded space.

· Transparency and Control: On YouTube, businesses don’t know what they are getting. They are paying for CPM or Cost Per Mille which can be translated to YouTube showing the video to a thousand people. YouTube takes a 45% cut from this CPM before passing it to content creators. Also, YouTubers are only paid for the monetized videos. The decision of this monetization is made by YouTube itself. So the business, the viewer and the content creator are all at the mercy of the central authority.

The Lifecycle of the Flixx Token

In Flixxo, the model is different. The content creator pays for hosting videos on the distributed network, the viewer pays the content creator for viewing videos and businesses directly pay viewers for watching ads. It’s a fully P2P marketing channel. Everyone has control and gets what they want. Also, moderation and censorship are conducted through the community, so there’s no central control.

· No Barriers to Entry: Businesses have to invest a lot of time and money to master YouTube ads. There is a lot of trial and error involved in finding the right customers. But in the Flixxo platform, because consumers are giving permission, the chances of conversion is higher. Businesses don’t have to waste a lot of resources through trial and error to find the right customer base.

P2P Marketing Is the Next Step in Digital Marketing

There’s no doubt that P2P marketing will become the dominant force in digital marketing. Flixxo is well positioned to lead the way in this area. So I’m really excited about the future of Flixxo in the new era of digital marketing.
