Last week, I had the privilege to travel to Ethiopia, Malawi, and Niger with Dr. Jill Biden — her fifth trip to Africa during this administration.

In Ethiopia, Dr. Biden met with refugees from Somalia and Sudan, and delivered remarks to students at the first-ever Girls Can Code graduation ceremony. In Malawi, we highlighted USAID and USDA programs at schools, met with Peace Corps volunteers and visited a maize processing facility. Finally, in Niger, we visited health clinics, met with women Parliamentarians, and talked with our troops stationed at the United States Exercise Relief Facility in Niamey.

Dr. Biden learned about the important work our government is doing across the continent to help improve access to education and health care for women and girls, increase food security, and improve security by countering violent extremism.

I hope you enjoy this glimpse of the trip from behind my lens.
