New Resource Created For Teachers By Digital Promise and BloomBoard

Dr. Christine Johns currently serves as superintendent for Utica Community Schools in Sterling Heights, Michigan. In her role as superintendent, Dr. Christine John was one of a select group of educators invited to participate in the public-private organization Digital Promise.

Digital Promise is a nonprofit founded by Congress in 2008 with the broad mission of improving educational opportunities for Americans through the use of technology. The organization is composed of researchers, educators, entrepreneurs, and policy leaders interested in using the new possibilities technology creates for learners at every level.

Recently, Digital Promise partnered with BloomBoard, a company that provides teachers with digital resources, to create a new micro-credential website. Micro-credentials are earned by demonstrating competency in very specific topics related to teaching, such as digital literacy and teacher leadership.

Teachers earn micro-credentials by logging on to the new website, studying learning materials and completing activities created by education researchers, and demonstrating competency to earn a digital badge of completion. Teachers working on micro-credentials through the website also have access to BloomBoard’s extensive library of professional online resources. Digital Promise works with BloomBoard to ensure that micro-credentials reflect trends and topics most useful to teachers working in the classroom.
