The “Libertarian” Party has no faith in its own principles, instead opting to reach out to disaffected Republicans whose practices and philosophies have little to nothing in common with open and free markets or unregulated social freedoms.
Gary Johnson’s concept of libertarianism is that it means not being a stupid Republican or Democrat. Of all his proposed members on his administration, not one of them is an actual libertarian.
He could reach out to people like Napolitano or economists like Tom Woods or Bob Murphy, but he instead focuses his attentions almost entirely on courting the Republicans who are frightened of the looming Trump Administration.
The L.P. seriously needs to reconsider its priorities before it is co-opted into the neo-Republicans.
The libertarian members of the Libertarian Party may well want to consider throwing their votes in a different direction to demonstrate that putting politics ahead of principle will not be tolerated within the L.P.
