Body Language Analysis №4175: Senator Dick Durbin Regarding President Trump’s “Shithole Countries” Remarks — Nonverbal and Emotional Intelligence (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

In a meeting in the Oval Office on Thursday, it’s alleged that President Donald Trump described African countries as well as Haiti, collectively as “shithole countries” during a meeting in which he also rejected a bipartisan plan on DACA (the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program).

On Friday morning, via Twitter, President Trump denied making such a derogatory statement. Note Trump’s lack of the word “I” in each of the first two sentences of denial. Such an omission of the singular first-person pronoun is a classic statement analysis pattern consistent with deception.

Senator Dick Durbin, who was in the Oval Office when the President allegedly made the statement regarding the incident. This is featured in the above video.

From a nonverbal behavior perspective, Senator Durbin sincerity quotient is high. More specifically — he shows no signals of deception.

Note the expression in the image immediately above — which was captured during 1:44 in the video (notated by Ω) as Senator Durbin says, “The most disheartening thing to me is Ω my belief that that was the first time words that hateful had been spoken in the Oval Office of the White House …

This expression, which was very evanescent (and thus classified as “microexpression”) — is indicative of an amalgam of the emotions:

• Regret
• Frustration
• Sadness

Summary: Senator Dick Durban was in the Oval Office when President Donald Trump allegedly made his a statement referring to African countries and Haiti as “shithole countries”. Senator Durbin’s nonverbal, verbal, and paralanguage behavior in the above video are all consistent with sincerity. More specifically, Senator Durbin displayed no signals of deception.

Additionally, President Trump’s lack of the use of the word, “I” in each of his sentences of Twitter denial are classic statement analysis findings consistent with deception.
