Wires are much more reliable. All of the best, most secure networks in the world are wired. Landlines are often the last network to go down in disasters, because they carry their own low voltage power source. Of course most people under the age of 30 don’t know the importance of landlines as they’ve never been in a disaster that required them.

At least we’ll still have the ham radio folks with their tuners connected to boat batteries to power us when the big one hits (whatever the big one is).
