NYJL CHAMP Committee Creates Health and Wellness Kits for Seniors

An alumna of Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Michelle Copeland of NYC has distinguished herself as a best-selling author, biochemist, and plastic surgeon. In addition to handling her professional obligations, Dr. Michelle Copeland supports a number of charitable organizations, including the New York Junior League.

The New York Junior League (NYJL) relies on a multitude of committees, staffed by trained volunteers, to engage the efforts that help fulfill the group’s mission to improve the lives of children and families. One such committee is the NYJL CHAMP Committee.

Volunteer members of the CHAMP Committee host Saturday morning health-and-wellness workshop presentations each week for participants of Health Advocates for Older People (HAFOP), a long-time partner of NYJL.

To help reinforce the lessons learned during these presentations, the CHAMP committee has developed “Go Kits.” The kits include items that coincide with the workshops, given in the hope that they will encourage participants to implement the recommendations. The items, such as a nutrition bar, sunscreen, and hand sanitizer, are contained in a custom NYJL tote bag.
