But of course! I know it may seem like a disparate phrase, ‘soulmate online,’ but if in fact, your soulmate is your destiny then you can meet anyway, anywhere, right?

So, What’s a Soulmate?

A soulmate in many religions is that person you are destined to be with; your helpmate. You come together to develop yourselves and to complete your soul’s mission together on earth.

Some immediate signs that you’ve met your soulmate are:

-You feel like you’ve known each other before

-You have important values in common

-You champion each other’s growth

-You inspire one another

-You challenge each other & sometimes this means disagreeing or demonstrating tough love

-You may have similar career paths or a soul’s mission in common

-You may have dissimilarities that help you grow beyond your comfort zone

So, How Might You Recognize Your Soulmate Online?

There’s a certain chemistry that’s easier to recognize when you are both in person, an intuition that may be hard to discern initially online but that doesn’t mean that a dating site could not be the divine portal that enables you to initially connect. Dating sites allow many singles to gather in one place so that you can cast your net wide to see what comes back. The idea is to gauge compatibility initially online and then to quickly meet in person so you can organically see how you feel together. In order to do so, you have to get past any limiting beliefs that you can only meet your soulmate in some, ‘Meet-Cute’ way, when you least expect it. You can still have plenty of romantic times and stories ahead of you.

It also takes time to get to know someone. It may be hard to, ‘just know’ someone is your soulmate online but you can see whether you have heartfelt causes, interests, values or career paths in common. You can discern if it’s worth giving that person a chance to meet you in real time and remain open-minded through the process.

Your Higher Self also understands that your soulmate may come in a surprise package. Your ego thinks it knows what’s best for you and it can get attached to a specific resume, instead of you listening to your heart and soul for guidance, as well. Often your soulmate will have a similar consciousness, energy, and psychology to you. They will, ‘feel’ like a good fit even though their looks, nationality or occupation could totally surprise you. If you know this, then it makes sense to initially give more types of prospects a chance so you don’t inadvertently rule people out for the wrong reasons. Trust that you will know in time who is your deeper match and if there are no red flags, meet for a date to really experience who that other person is on a deeper level, beyond their immediate looks and surface attributes. Obviously, an attraction is important so you need to feel that your date is cute, but keep in mind that barring an obvious lack of attraction, sometimes a person’s intelligence, enthusiasm, humor, and charisma could sway you and win out.

As a dating coach and psychologist specializing in relationships, I have seen many couples meet online and marry. I suspect that at least a handful of them declare that they are soulmates and found it surprising that they met each other on the not so romantic world-wide-web. Yet they still experienced unbelievable synchronicities and felt profound gratitude for having found each other.

So, get out of your way and let love take its course.
