Reaching Down, Lifting Up

Morning Choices

Long awaited rain:

A blessing in draught,

A drowning pool,

Endless in scope,

An inescapable tomb…

Looking down,

Seeing signs of Life,

A time for choice,

Do I reach down?

Do I dirty my hands?

Do I wait for crows?

Will it change a thing?

Reaching down,

Lifting up,

Finding its home,

Feeling a smile,

Going on our way…

I can’t change politics,

I can live my way,

Each choice a brick,

Building tomorrow’s home.
