Photographers need a clear aesthetic much more than techy knowhow.

One reason techy people are techy is because they don’t have the confidence to become ‘art photographers’, by which I mean artists who use photography, instead of paint or clay or bodily expression (dance)

To get my own aesthetic, by which I meant sensibility of beauty, I studied the top 50 (mainly) great street photographers

Here I show you 4 steps that will enable you to realize yourself as an artist.

This is Cindy sherman;

Sherman transmogrifies herself into hundreds of characters all of whom in some way convey social comment such as superiority or abuse;

British Vogue

This it the work of another outstanding artist her name is Denise McGill;

“The Invisible Man 1” — “The Invisible Man 1”

To see those who hide in techy-dom go to almost any local photographic society! Next are the 4 STEPS

The 4 Steps to gain confidence as an artist who uses photography

1 Live, breathe and eat the work of the acknowledged masters.

2 Live, breathe and eat the acknowledged master writers on photography.

Sometimes 1 and 2 above are the same such as Nick Turpin

3 Spend any spare cash on books of acknowledged great photographers or visits to galleries that show their work. I remember clearly almost every such visit.

4 Look at everything via a real or imaginary view-finder

Make a cardboard view-finder.

Why?

Using it you can forget about all the other camera stuff and just look and frame and see!

Secondly if you are photographic in bed and roll over it hurts less than rolling onto a camera.

The above process is, in the widest sense, a spiritual exercise.

For me, as a portal, it feeds, into the ultimate life-goal realization
