I loved your response to the article. My question is where can I learn more about Islam and what it really teaches without all the political agendas polluting the message? I am a Canadian who believes that we are are all more alike than we are different. Our world sorely needs peace and tolerance and I believe the only way to accomplish that is through dialogue and education of others’ beliefs without trying to change anyone along the way. We all are entitled to our differences…it’s what makes the human race special.
The media is so busy turning one culture against another that people have forgotten that we are all the same and want the same things for our families….peace, a chance to live our lives as we choose, opportunities for our children….everyone wants the same thing. But we are so blinded by hatred that we fail to see this basic truth.
I know very little about Islam. I know that the fear filled opinions of people cannot be accurate….a whole culture cannot be represented by a few. I wish to learn more so I can say to them “did you know that…”. I refuse to be part of the saying “All that is required for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing”.
Any reading you could direct me toward would be greatly appreciated.
Peace be with you.
