Every WORD spoken by GOD in the BIBLE is for our exhortation, encouragement, and over all spiritual benefit.

I think we would agree with this statement. SO, why do we only post the same “inspiring” or “encouraging” Bible verses over and over again? (sometimes out of context and sometimes with no reference to the HARD and CHALLENGING verses that precede it or follow it).

“For the word of God is alive, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

Piercing. Dividing Asunder. Discerning our Thoughts. In other words… Judging and Revealing even the most unpleasant things about us — The things that we desperately want to keep hidden… The things we want to protect and keep for ourselves. But, these are the things we most definitely need to change if we are going to walk humbly and obediently and faithfully with our God as we ABIDE closely with Christ!

The very next verse… verse 13, is SHOCKING!

“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare (naked) before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”

Nakedness is SUPPOSED to be a shameful thing. This is another indication that our culture has strayed from God and that our God-given sensibilities have been DULLED. And Christian… we are right there with them! That is all I will say on this subject… for now.

I only reference it because we SHOULD feel SHAME when we undress ourselves and show more of bodies than we should show… But the fact is… WE CAN’T HIDE ANYTHING from GOD! He sees everything about us… Deep Down Inside.

1 You have searched me, Lord,

. and you know me.

2 You know when I sit and when I rise;

. you perceive my thoughts from afar.

3 You discern my going out and my lying

(Psalm 139:1–3)

Perhaps, this is one of the reasons most Christians — Christians who only nominally follow Christ and choose to be lukewarm — DO NOT READ OR STUDY THE BIBLE. It is just too convicting and God begins to reveal things that MUST BE CHANGED. That is no fun… and certainly too much work!

And so… We are back to where we started — Posting “Inspirational” Bible verses on social media because, as Spiritual Babies, that is all we can handle.

How about you? Does that describe your condition? Are you a weak Christian? Are you a nominal Christian? Are you a “Snowflake” Christian who lives for the next “Feel Good” Bible verse? Are you a fleshly, carnal Christian who has a seared conscience so that “Nakedness” is not even a problem for you?

(I speak Spiritually, of course)

I want to challenge you, brothers and sisters. May we not submit ourselves to the cultural trend to post only “Happy and Inspirational” Bible verses. THIS WEEK… seek out those Bible passages that are a bit harder to hear, and even harder to apply, and POST THEM for the SPIRITUAL BENEFIT of all your friends… including myself. I, for one, would be most appreciative!

“Dear Father in Heaven… Humble us this week. As we look into Your Holy Word, may we locate those Truths that we NEED to read. May we find those passages that REBUKE US right where we OFFEND YOU. May we humbly submit to your chastening hand and willingly change that we might “work out our salvation” and become more “conformed to the image of our Savior, Jesus Christ” — To be more like Him and SO MUCH LESS like the world around us. For we are Your Church. We are Your Possession. Help us to live like the HOLY people of God that we are! Amen.”
