All Things Made for Good

First, let me tell you; this is not a blog about sex. The title’s purpose is not to stir your imagination or to repulse you into assuming that I have a demon and require an exorcism. Go ahead, look in the address bar. It says, “All things Made for Good.” That’s right, ALL THINGS! The air you breathe, the sex you have (or desire to have), the sights you see, and the words you say all are made for a purpose and they find that purpose in the Divine Love of God the Father. The title of this blog comes from a song by my favorite band: Gungor. The song is called “You Are the Beauty.” It speaks of how God is the Beauty from which all other beauty stems from: the sun’s light, music, flavors, breath, sex, sight, etc. It is all a representation of His love for you and me, and it is all meant to shine back and bring Him glory. Man’s purpose is to bring Him glory. Gifted pastor and theologian, John Piper, famously tweaked the Westminster Catechism to say, “The Chief end of man is to glorify God BY enjoying Him fully.” In His Divine Love, God made all Beauty, God made Breath & Sex & Sight and everything else to bring us overwhelming JOY, so that in turn we will glorify Him. I hope that whether you agree or disagree with anything I post here that you will understand this is the premise upon which I am building this blog. All posts will be directed to this first post.

Now that you know my aim, let me tell you why I have chosen the medium I have. I choose to blog because social networking is too volatile. Every time I post something remotely opinionated I am lambasted with a firestorm of comments and all out war breaks out because I chose to post on a current event. A blog puts me in charge. I can state my purpose, I can control the comments, I can provide context, and I can change my mind. On a blog I have the freedom to be wrong! I have the freedom to say something stupid and later correct myself. I am a fallen human, passion will consume me at times and I will post something wrong or maybe even offensive. I apologize in advance for my insensitivity, my bigotry, and the times when I’m a jackass (or Donkey rather). I pray through the grace of you the reader and the sovereign sanctification of God the Father, that this blog will make me a better person. I also pray that this blog echoes the heart of a Loving Father who gives His children all things for His own matchless Glory. I hope to speak Grace and Peace into a culture filled with Retribution and Hate.

I have stated my aim and I have explained my choice of medium now onto the content you can look forward to. Mostly I will post articles. Articles that I find interesting. I will not always agree with these articles. They will be meant to spark conversation, not to ignite an all out comment war. They will not always reflect my heart or the heart of God. I hope to make you think: Does this bring glory to God? Is this right? How does my own opinion bring glory to God? Am I right? All ideas come from a holy purpose. Each simply have different levels of sin mixed in, but even your most holy idea- even the ideals you and I might die for (Patriotism, Nationalism, Family, Freedom of speech, guns, choice, you name it), fall short due to your sinful nature. The ONLY worthy ideals are those laid out by the Word of God. Sadly, even our own interpretations of those ideals fall short. I will post my musings and some articles I find interesting. Each post will fall short of being a hill worth dying on.

Here is a taste of some of the articles I will post:

Hillsong Church Statement by Senior Pastor Brian Houston

1 Corinthians 2

And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,

nor the heart of man imagined,

what God has prepared for those who love him” —

these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
