War is a Mistress

War is an exotic risqué mistress

Suggestingly

Rationalize

Just

Risk

And growth

Of what could be.

War is a seductive fickle mistress

Stealing the love

Intimacy

Time

Limbs

And Souls

of those who dare.

War is a bitter addictive mistress

Calling for more

In memories

Birth

Death

And drinks

Of coming again.

War is a faceless unstable mistress

Screaming aloud

Inside your mind

Fault

Blame

And guilt

Of wrongs with no rights.

War is a mistress owned by another

Lustily calling

To the willing

Young

Brave

And old

For those who won’t fight.

War is a mistress

She was never yours

but once you succumb

she’ll always have you.
